The Disability Foundation
The Disability Foundation, an affiliate of the Dayton Foundation, administers financial aid to disabled people living in Ohio from two trusts. Its driving goal is to improve life for persons with disabilities by helping them afford the things they need and want.

The Great Lakes ADA Center
The Great Lakes ADA Center’s mission is to increase awareness and knowledge with the ultimate goal of achieving voluntary compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. This is accomplished within targeted audiences through provision of customized training, expert assistance, and dissemination of information developed by various sources, including the federal agencies responsible for enforcement of the ADA. We are not an enforcement or regulatory agency, but a helpful resource supporting the ADA’s mission to “make it possible for everyone with a disability to live a life of freedom and equality.

Ohio Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs)
Your local ADRC should be one of the first places you contact in your search for disability grants to apply toward a wheelchair van or handicap van equipment and conversions. Offices are all around Ohio.

Ohio Association of Area Agencies on Aging (O4A)
O4A provides many services to and advocates on behalf of senior citizens residing in Ohio. If you or a loved one has age-related impaired mobility and requires a handicapped-accessible vehicle, contact the Association for help.

Ohio Department of Veterans Services (DVS)
The state’s DVS is in place to assist US veterans living in Ohio with an array of services and support in thanks for their dedication and sacrifices. For those with limited mobility resulting from duty or VA care, disability grants are available. They may fully or partially cover the cost of your wheelchair van.

Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council (DDC)
The Ohio DDC’s primary mission is to improve the lives of state residents with developmental disabilities through facilitating independence and community participation. It awards disability grant money to achieve these ends, and offers a number of other forms of support.

Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission (RSC)
The state government’s RSC recognizes that gainful employment is an essential aspect of independence and self-determination for Ohioans with disabilities. It makes itself available to them to assist with finding and maintaining a job. If, for you, this requires acquisition of a handicap van or installation of accessibility accessories and modifications, a disability grant from the agency may make this happen.

Ohio Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC)
The Ohio SILC aims to make independent living a reality for in-state persons with limited mobility and other disabilities. It is a source of information and guidance, rather than financial assistance.
